THEMED LIBRARY BUNDLES
A few years ago, Tiffany Meyers began buying our products to make available to her patrons who are caring for loved ones with dementia. Tiffany is the director of the library in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. She created "themed kits" based on our Interactive Books series. Her reason for these kits was to give friends and family a way "to continue having meaningful interactions with a loved one who is experiencing dementia."
Years ago we started bundling similar products specifically for memory care communities. When we used to visit Bernice in her community we would overhear visits with other residents. It was a small room - we couldn't help it. Conversations were often difficult. Alzheimer's disease and many other types of dementia affect a person's ability to form new memories. That makes it difficult to talk about "what's going on?" Our idea was that visitors could chose a meaningful activity around which to base their visit. It keeps the conversation "in the present where it belongs.
We have created bundles for libraries base on Alternative Therapies that we know work to improve the lives of people with dementia, and a couple that are stage-appropriate. All come in a handy tote and are ready for checkout.
