Video Respite DVDs
DVDs, Movies, and Alternative Television
This kept Mother entertained like nothing else has for years. If she is depressed or irritable, it will get her out of it. She won't watch TV, but she is glued to the tape.
Each of the thirteen videos provides the caregiver with a way to improve his or her own quality of life by providing a respite from the challenges of caring. All are designed to hold the attention of people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia by addressing the viewier directly.
The people on the videos become very real friends to the people who are watching. As they have a conversation, or sing together, or remember times in the past, you are able to have some time away from the caregiver role, time to prepare a meal, to write a letter, to read a book.
These DVDs are wonderful additions to an overall care strategy. Each provides physical exercise in the form of light movement, socialization, reminiscence, and sensory and cognitive stimulation. All are ideal aids for caring for a person with dementia in the home, and they also work well in a group situation, in care communities and Alzheimer's day care.
The broad variety of subjects and presenters ensures that there is a video here for everyone.
Video Respite are available in DVD format only.
