Activities for Alzheimer's
An activity requires a certain amount of attention to participate in or complete. It is this focus that makes many activities beneficial to people with Alzheimer's disease and most other forms of dementia. Researchers and caregivers report everything from improved mood and behavior, to better sleep and reduction in medication resulting from participating in certain activities.
Choose Appropriate Activities
The right activity is age- and stage-appropriate for the person who is doing it. The chosen activity should be one that he can do, and also holds his interest. Remember too, that most activities can be enjoyed at different levels. If your loved one enjoys stringing beads but can no longer physically lace them, she could select the order for a "helper" to put on the lace.
